A Small Antique Confit Pot from Southern France

A Small Antique Confit Pot from Southern France

£149.00Price

This antique French confit pot is a very beautiful example of the pots produced in Southern France throughout the 18th and 19th centuries to preserve meat, grease and other foods during the winter months. The pot was buried in the ground to line of glazing.

Confit pots have become very popular all over the world and are now harder and harder to source in France. These handmade pots are always unique both in their shape and in the ochre tone and spill of the glazing. This example is in excellent condition and still has both its earshaped handles.
