A Large Antique Yellow Confit Pot, Southern France
£185.00Price
H 33 x W 31cm (including handles)
This stunning antique French confit pot is an example of the elegance and beauty of Southern French pottery. Confit pots were produced throughout the 18th and 19th centuries to preserve meat, grease and other foods during the winter months. The pot was buried in the ground to line of glazing.
Confit pots have become very popular all over the world and are now harder to source in France. These handmade pots are always unique both in their shape and in the ochre tone and spill of the glazing, and very attractive thanks to their elegant shapes and bright colours. This particular pot is in beautiful antique condition, with both earshaped handles still intact but a few cracks in the glazing.
