This wonderfully bright and bold oil on board depicts a group of boats meeting on a canal. The scene harks back to a time when canals were part of British life, linking London to Brimingham to Manchester... The dappled sunlight and blue water give the impression of an idyllic, peaceful life. The quality of the board and the framing indicate it was painted in the 1950s to 1970s. The work is signed R. Bryant, who is as yet unidentified beyond his/her name.
