René Carré (1925-1993) was a French artist best known for his vistas of the French Alps and the Cote d'Azur. The 'Col du Bonhomme' depicted here is a mountain pass which forms a part of the Tour du Mont-Blanc. Today, it's best known as it lies close to Les Contamines ski resort. We love the free brushstrokes and vivid colours that beautifully capture the light playing in a frozen mountain gorge,
